About Sunny Hills Child Care Centre
Our Background
We welcome you and your family to Sunny Hills Child Care and Education Centre and trust that as your child commences their early years learning journey with us, we invite you to share in our child’s journey by becoming involved in their program and their enjoyment at Kindy and Preschool.
Sunny Hills is owned and operated by the Gracen Family. Vicki is an Early Childhood Teacher who values the importance of early learning for young children. David and Victoria Grace opened Sunny Hills in January 1994 with the vision of providing Early Childhood Education that prepares young children for their early school years from the age of 2 ½. Stability, routines, skills, communication, and interactions were just a few aspects of a well-balanced program that gives each child the time and space to develop their own learning style, play imagination and secure valued friends. In 2005 the service began to cater for 15-month-old children.
“Quality care and education in a warm friendly environment”.
Our Teachers and Educators implement programs for children from 15 months to 5 years using the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia. The Government approved Kindergarten program for the Preschool children aged 4 years is provided by an Early Childhood Teacher based on the Early Years Learning Framework and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and the Continua.
Sunny Hills has provided an environment that allows each child to reach for the stars, develop their own personality within an educational environment and opportunities to reach their full potential in readiness for their educational journey at school. We have always focused on making every task and experience lots of fun as this leaves a lasting impression in the child’s mind and encourages further exploration and discovery with an optimistic outlook. Sunny Hills has an open door to you and your family to visit and be involved at any time.
Our Philosophy
Sunny Hills Child Care and Education Centre is committed to creating an environment where children feel connected, confident, secure, and engaged to play and learn in a relaxed and meaningful way between indoor and outdoor areas. We value the vital role the families have in their children’s education and encourage families and community partners to engage with the service. We base our partnership with families on effective and regular communication.
Our goal is to provide an environment where every child can build their own identity and be supported to foster friendships. They will be involved in social situations where educators and children will learn together, share ideas and discoveries, explore and problem solve to expand each child’s thinking and build new understandings. Educators value each child’s individual knowledge and skills and provide learning opportunities to extend and enhance each child’s individual development.
Communication is central to belonging, being and becoming. We encourage children to communicate in their home language with friends and share their culture. Through communication, the educators will build on the children’s use and understanding of the English language as they enjoy and engage in music, dance, storytelling, talking, listening, reading, and writing activities. Educators will incorporate literacy and numeracy foundations into activities as these are important components in their development.
Sunny Hills uses the Early Years Learning Framework to extend and enrich all children’s learning in the day-to-day program development. The Kindergarten Teacher also uses the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline and the Continua of Learning and Development to guide planning and influence decisions to create responsive and inclusive learning programs for the Preschool children in the year before they commence their formal schooling.
Care, attention, love. Often parents are easily drawn to the shiny centre. However, what really matters is within. The staff. They are what make the centre great. The staff at Sunny Hills are first class. They genuinely care for the little, precious ones. The attention they give them is sincere and individual as if they were their own vis a vis love. I have sent both my children here and cannot be happier that I did.
My kid didn’t want to come home with me when I was picking her up!
We strongly agree with the Council of Australian Governments’ vision that education and care through the Early Years Learning Framework enables:
“All children to have the best start in life to create a better future for themselves and for the nation.”
